Projects

Throughout its history, TEAD vzw has been involved in a variety of projects at both local and international level. The projects listed below are just a selection of the activities we have helped to realise.

Emergency shelter for technical theatre heritage

Technical theatre heritage is often tucked away in the basements or attics of theatre companies or cultural centres. These are often bulky items that tend to get in the way at organisations which, by definition, are short of space. Younger generations of stage technicians are often unaware of the importance of preserving this heritage. To prevent this heritage from being lost, TEAD vzw advises owners and helps them find solutions. If necessary, the equipment can be taken into emergency storage, where its preservation is guaranteed and it can, for example, be loaned out for exhibitions, etc.

Light Book (2011)

TEAD vzw supported the publication of the book “Lighting Techniques for Stage Technicians” and published several editions. The book is currently out of print. We have therefore published a digital version here. We have also developed additional teaching materials. Both may be used for educational and non-commercial purposes.

Marotech – Wakha-Wakha (2008)

Since its inception, TEAD vzw has supported projects in countries where there is no established tradition of training. We place particular emphasis on training professionals who can subsequently take charge of the training themselves. In 2008, with the support of the Flemish government, we carried out an extensive project in Morocco, where we provided further training in lighting, sound engineering and festival organisation on the fringes of existing festivals.

Scenofest @ PQ07

TTT-LPT (2005 – 2009)

The TTT (Theatre Technical Training) and LPT (Live Performance Training) projects marked the start of a long series of collaborations that continue to this day. They laid the foundations for a jointly developed competency framework for stage technicians, which lives on today in the current ESCO competencies for the sector, amongst other things.

Scenofest @ PQ03

Together with the OISTAT Education Commission, we organised Scenofest at the Prague Quadrennial in 2003. After four years of preparation, we presented 13 days of activities for more than 1,500 students from 163 schools and 40 countries. Workshops on lighting, sound, rigging, scenography and costume design, presentations of the students’ work, and lectures by leading experts from the field formed the core of Scenofest. The essence of the project was that it was student-led and focused on collaboration between different cultures.
